East Cork Early Music is pleased to present an off-season pop-up performance, Passion Chorales on Saturday March 21, Crawford Art Gallery at 3:30pm. Students, graduates and staff of the CIT Cork School of Music will perform the chorale melodies from Bach’s St Matthew Passion, re-ordered into a soul-searching narrative reflecting the modern-day response to the suffering of the innocent. Interspersed between the movements will be instrumental solo Bach performed by Orla O’Hanlon, violin.
This free performance in the Crawford’s stunning sculpture gallery is part of international events Bach in the Subways and European Day of Early Music. The musical director is Anne Ralph, a long-time volunteer with East Cork Early Music, who is now teaching at the CIT Cork School of Music.
