Dear friends,

it’s an exciting time: we’re counting the days to the launch of 2014’s East Cork Early Music Festival (October 9-12), confident that this year’s line-up will deliver again one of the great experiences of the Irish musical calendar. ECEMF 2014 is ambitious, fresh, educational – simultaneously rooted in the musical life of Cork city and county and of the highest international standard. And what a cornucopia of music is being offered by this year’s performers. Have a look at the line-up (under the heading ‘The Festival’ above): this is our way of thanking you for your faithful concert attendance and ongoing support!

To ensure we can keep the Festival up and running, we still need to raise a final €2000 in the next few weeks. Although generously supported by the Arts Council and County Council, the cost of running a festival of this scale and artistic ambition is high. All of us involved in the organising of ECEMF work as volunteers, so there’s no money going to middle managers – it all goes directly into making top quality music happen in Co.Cork, and raising the profile and standard of historically inspired performance in Ireland. We are passionate about giving Irish and Irish-based professional musicians a rare and precious opportunity to work with the world’s best Early Music specialists, and we need your help to do this!

Donating money couldn’t be easier – click the “Donate” button above and choose the amount you like. €5, €10, it all helps, and we will acknowledge your contribution in our Festival Programme. If you are able to donate €50 or more, please consider becoming our Patron – see the details below of the benefits! But please hurry – while we’ll happily accept donations at any time, we can only acknowledge your donation in this year’s publicity material if you act in the next 7 days, before Sunday 20th September 2014. If you would prefer to pay by cheque, they can be sent to East Cork Early Music, 43 Marwood Lawn, Glanmire, Co.Cork.
