Music for a While

Rising stars Iverni Baroque dive into rich, atmospheric music of the seventeenth century, against the historic backdrop of St. John the Baptist Church in Midleton. Featuring soprano Hannah Traynor, baroque violinist Harry O’Connor, baroque cellist Doireann Kelly and harpsichordist Ellen Bolger, this fresh exciting young ensemble explore the arias of Venetian virtuosa Barbara Strozzi, the wild and fantastic violin sonatas of Pandolfi and Castello, and favourite songs from Henry Purcell’s operas.

Iverni Baroque Ensemble

The Iverni Baroque ensemble was established in 2019 by a number of BMus students at the CIT Cork School of Music. Under the guidance of Pauline MacSweeney, Marja Gaynor and Aoife Nic Athlaoich, the ensemble has performed in Nano Nagle Place. Members of the ensemble have taken part in workshops and projects coached by Liv Heym and Claire Duff. The ensemble uses period instruments and its members are very enthusiastic about early music and its performance.

The ensemble have been invited to perform at West Cork Chamber Music Festival, Sligo Baroque Festival, Music in Kilkenny and with Madrigal ’75. Its members are also part of the Irish Youth Baroque Orchestra and Irish Baroque Orchestra Apprentices Ensemble
